Maya Weug leidt het F1 Academy-kampioenschap in 2025

Maya Weug Leads the 2025 F1 Academy Championship

The 2025 F1 Academy season is in full swing, and Maya Weug is proving exactly why she’s one of the most exciting young talents in motorsport. After three rounds, she currently leads the championship — with consistent podiums and a breakthrough race win already under her belt.

Strong Start in Shanghai

The season kicked off in March at the Shanghai International Circuit, where Maya secured pole position and finished third in Race 1, followed by a second-place finish in Race 2. These results launched her into second place in the overall standings, just behind Doriane Pin.

Breakthrough Win in Jeddah

In April, the series moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Maya placed second in Race 1 and battled fiercely with Chloe Chambers in Race 2. Although Chambers crossed the line first, a time penalty for contact with Maya handed her the victory — her first of the season — and the lead in the championship standings.

Weather Challenges in Miami

Round three took place in Miami, where heavy rain disrupted the weekend. Doriane Pin took the win in Race 1, but Race 2 was cancelled due to dangerous conditions. Still, Maya retained her lead in the championship — just one point ahead of Pin.

Looking Ahead

With her consistent performances and racecraft, Maya is a strong contender for the 2025 title. Next up: Barcelona, where she’ll look to extend her narrow lead and keep momentum on her side.
